In everyday life, I crave control. Routines calm me down, to-do lists focus my mind, and so-called spontaneity is carefully planned. In art, however, I seek the exact opposite.
I am passionate about the unexpected, which is why I focus my artwork around experimentation. I allow my art to evolve through the creation process, working with the medium both physically and spiritually. I believe that only by giving up complete control can I achieve artistic success. In this way, I act as a conduit. The medium directs the path towards art, and I simply follow suit.
My portfolio emphasizes my infatuation with color and form. I work with these concepts to override the context of the artwork, focusing instead on abstraction. A portrait becomes a series of organic shapes intermingling in vivid color and a porcelain bowl becomes a sensually fluid sculpture. These transformations are why I love art.
